Marc Meneau has created his domain, L’Espérance, in the village of St Père, at the foot of the “eternal hill”, a treasure trove of French history. It is a magical place of timeless charm in the heart of the Morvan region of Burgundy. Situated midway between Paris and Lyon, it can be reached by car on the A6 motorway or by TGV high-speed train to Montbard.

Vézelay, overlooking St Père-sous-Vézelay, a second-century Roman site, rose to fame between the 10th and 11th centuries when St Bernard called forth the 2nd Crusade and when the Romanesque Basilica of Saint Mary Magdalene was founded with its pure architectural lines. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Zervos Museum of Contemporary Art, summer concerts and “Rencontres Musicales”, Basoche Chateau, Fontenay Abbey, Avallon, local crafts... Not only is Vézelay rich in cultural attractions, it also boasts a wide range of sporting activities: fishing, climbing, tree climbing, hot air ballooning... kayaking, quad, hiking and riding in the very village of St Père.

Vézelay is easily accessible and is situated half way between Paris and Lyon on the edge of Morvan natural park. It offers a whole range of outdoor activities and various types of accommodation.
